A 6 metres plywood feature wall that spans the entire length of a living room, it mediates and unifies practical everyday living functions to house storage, a TV console and even an area for wearing shoes at the doorway. The regularity and flatness of a typical cabinet is transformed and facetted specific to the various functions forming a functional frontispiece for the apartment.
Perhaps the most unattractive piece of furniture in most local households, the mahjong table presents a love-hate relationship for most users. It is mostly hidden in the storeroom until the exhilarant gathering of four. Due to its felted top and the up-stand ledge around the table for straightening playing tiles, the typical mahjong table hardly functions as a table during non-gaming moments. Our proposal allows the mahjong table to fold away into a three-legged console hence extending its use beyond the game. The arduous task of packing the tiles made redundant as the tiles can simply be left sandwiched between the folded table tops after the game. The mahjong table is finally liberated from the store.
