Pastaro - A Spatial Experience of Algorithmic Craft

Pastaro at Chancery Court, Singapore, is a testament to how digital craftmanship and parametric design can transform a dining space into an immersive environment. Much like how Chef Willin Low, the OG of Mod-Sin, reinterprets tradition with innovation, the design of Pastaro reimagines conventional spatial elements through a contemporary lens.

The defining feature of the restaurant is its geodesic timber strip ceiling, a fluid, organic network of interwoven wooden elements that visually and spatially unify the interior.

Using a parametric design approach, the ceiling’s geometry was computationally generated to achieve an optimal balance between structure, aesthetics, and function. The form-finding process leveraged digital algorithm to create a dynamic yet lightweight lattice that responds to spatial constraints while evoking a sense of natural randomness.

Each timber strip was digitally fabricated with precision, ensuring a seamless that integrates with the restaurant’s lighting and services- much like how Chef Willin’s craft is grounded in technique yet free in expression.

This algorithmic approach not only enhances the restaurant’s identity but also reflects our commitment at Produce to pushing the boundaries of computational design and digital fabrication in contemporary interiors- just as Pastaro pushes the boundaries of Italian cuisine through a Mod-Sin lens.
